What is Copernic Desktop Search Enterprise

Copernic Desktop Search Enterprise is a powerful program that lets you instantly find files stored anywhere on your computer and allows you to connect to a Copernic Search Server. This allow all users in the same environnement to have a common document database centralized on the Copernic Search Server. As usual, each CDS Enterprise could have their own private document database.

Key Features

Copernic Desktop Search Enterprise offer the same functionalities than the standard version. In addition, you can configure a Server location that allow CDS to contact the Copernic Search Server.

Once the server is properly configured, the search bar will provide you a Server option in the green drop down menu located at the exact right of the Search button. This drop down allows you to specify if you want to search files on the Server or on your own Local computer.

Specify a Copernic Search Server (server) location:
    • In the Tools menu, click Options...
    • Select the Indexing & Performance tab.
    • In the Index section, type the server computer name or IP Address in the Server location field.
      1. Ex: 192.168.10.1 or COMPUTER_NAME
    • Click Back to main view or Escape key to confirm and close the Options window.
    • Close Copernic Desktop Search with the File > Exit menu.
    • Reopen Copernic Desktop Search.
NOTE: A restart of Copernic Desktop Search is required for the option to be applied.

Find files on the Copernic Search Server:
    • Click on the green drop down menu located at the exact right of the Search button.
    • Select the Server item.
    • Type a search expression in the search bar (optional).
    • Click on the Search button.
    • Results should appear in the result list after a short instant.
Find files on your own computer:
    • Click on the green drop down menu located at the exact right of the Search button.
    • Select the Local item.
    • Type a search expression in the search bar (optional).
    • Click on the Search button.
    • Results should appear in the result list after a short instant.
